0930 - 1015 Keynote 1: From Wow to How: Unleashing Human Brilliance with AI
Kicking off ALX 2025,
this thought-provoking keynote sets the stage for a deep dive into the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education,
adult learning,
and the evolving workplace. Dr. Jelinkova will explore how AI is reshaping content creation,
learning experiences,
and institutional operations,
while also redefining how knowledge is generated,
shared,
and applied across disciplines. We will examine how human creativity can be a key ingredient in creating human centered AI-powered processes. This session will examine the critical challenges and opportunities presented by AI,
with a focus on strategies that enable organizations to effectively balance technological innovation with human expertise and navigate the complexities of this rapidly evolving era.

Concurrent Session 1a Synergistic Content Creation by Humans and AI for Spatial Learning Experiences
AI is revolutionising content creation,
but the best results arise from a synergy between human creativity and AI efficiency. This concurrent session will explore how AI tools enhance,
rather than replace,
human ingenuity in content production specifically for the immersive extended reality (XR) medium. We’ll discuss real-world applications of AI in writing and media design,
highlighting where AI excels and where human intervention is crucial. Attendees will learn practical frameworks for co-creating with AI,
optimising workflow efficiency without sacrificing originality.
The session will also address the common pitfalls of AI-assisted content creation—such as over-reliance on automation and ethical considerations—offering actionable strategies to maintain authenticity while delivering the desired outcomes of your spatial learning and development experiences.

Concurrent Session 1c AI-Augmented Teaching and Learning – A Holistic Approach to Support Learners and Instructors in Applied Learning
In an era marked by rapid technological transformation, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education
presents unprecedented opportunities to enhance both teaching and learning experiences. This talk explores a holistic
approach to AI-augmented education, focusing specifically on applied learning in higher education in which the emphasis
is on realistic problem solving and authentic assessment. We will examine different aspects of teaching and learning in
which AI can potentially improve current practices, and how they may be able to complement each other to form a holistic
learner-centric approach, which is also manageable and meaningful to instructors. Drawing on the growing global
collective experience, we will review what is already possible with minimal effort, compared with the utopian scenario
towards which we can aspire. Participants will leave with actionable insights into how AI can be strategically
implemented to foster an inclusive, engaging, and impactful applied learning ecosystem.

Concurrent Session 1b: Deep Tech Skills Beyond ChatGPT to Thrive in the New AI Era
Concurrent session 1b: Deep Tech Skills Beyond ChatGPT to Thrive in the New AI Era
As AI reshapes the world at lightning speed, mastering basic prompt engineering is no longer enough. This talk explores
the critical technologies and mindsets needed to stay ahead. We will dive into the frontier of embodied AI—where
robotics brings intelligence into the physical world—and how digital twins and simulation enable safe, scalable
experimentation. We will also explore agentic AI, where systems don't just respond but plan, act, and adapt
autonomously.
To succeed in this new era, we need more than curiosity; we also need a structured path to mastery to harness these
innovations. This talk introduces a three-pillar system to build deep tech fluency: theoretical grounding to understand
the "why," practical partnerships with researchers and developers for hands-on exploration, and on-the-job learning to
apply knowledge in real-world contexts. Whether you are a student, an AI practitioner, or exploring how AI can add value
to your organization, this session will help you navigate beyond surface-level AI tools and position yourself at the
heart of the next wave of technological disruption.

The case study highlights Gen AI as a Learning Assistant in the Law &
Governance (CET) and Business Law (PET) modules from the School of Business &
Accountancy. It explores how a Gen AI tutor provides 24/7 personalised support,
guiding students through case-based learning with real-time feedback to deepen their understanding and application of legal concepts. We also share early experimentation with use of real-time voice assistants during in-person learning tutorials as a virtual co-facilitator.
The session concludes with insights,
observations,
and future directions for T&
L assistants in flipped learning environments.

Concurrent Session 3a Workplace Transformation: Augmenting Human Decision-Making
Organisations are adopting digital transformation with AI and technology for enhanced productivity. The key concern is embracing high tech leads to low (human) touch. It needs not be binary - we could adopt an "AND" instead of "OR" mindset in embracing learning and digital transformation. In Silver Generation Office,
we adopt an holistic approach to embrace Digital Transformation in value-adding to our staff,
volunteers and supporting our older adults. Pursuing this exciting journey with our shared vision in mind,
reframing failures as learning,
rooted in our values of Purpose,
Care and Trust,
and our Heart of Care Culture.

Concurrent Session 3b Unlocking Insights: Equipping Training Providers with Analytical Dashboards for Strategic Decision-Making
Labour market intel are useful in helping training providers (TPs) make informed decisions on curriculum and capacity planning,
design and review.
Participants will be introduced to the Jobs-Skills (JS) Portal,
SkillsFuture Singapore's one-stop platform for jobs-skills resources. Through a live demonstration, participants can observe how a training provider may utilise jobs-skills resources in their daily operations, providing insights into practical applications for fellow training providers.
The session will also provide a sneak preview into future jobs-skills dashboards and a teaser to a capability development programme to equip TPs with the know-how to use these dashboards.
Participants will be able to register their interest for the capability development programme at the session.

Concurrent Session 3c: Achieving Competency-based Learning with LLMs
Modern workplaces are becoming increasingly complex and there is an urgent need for higher education to align classroom
instruction with the practical demands of professional workplaces. Recent advances in generative AI (GenAI) offer an
opportunity to implement role play in higher education, since Large Language Models (LLMs) today can mimic human
behaviours very well.
At NUS, we use LLMs to simulate realistic workplace interactions and generate context-rich scenarios that allow learners
to learn domain-specific skills. In particular, we implemented role-playing scenarios with LLMs for diverse domains such
as law and nursing to bridge the gap between academic instruction and workplace readiness. In this talk, we will
describe what we did and share some learning points from our experience.
